Raimond Molenje / Chief Executive Officer
Raimond Molenje serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA), a role he assumed on 1st April 2024. As CEO, he is responsible for steering KBA’s strategic direction, overseeing industry advocacy, development and sustainability, capacity building, training, and stakeholder engagement.
Since joining KBA in 2018 as Director of Legal, Human Resources, and Policy Advocacy, Raimond has played a pivotal role in advancing the industry’s agenda. He brings over 19 years of experience in legal and regulatory practice, human resource leadership, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement. His wealth of experience spans roles in prominent organizations, including De La Rue Currency & Security Print, Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE), Equity Bank, and Rural Electrification & Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC). He also spent over six years as a private civil and commercial litigation practitioner.
Raimond has demonstrated exceptional leadership in transforming the industry’s advocacy and lobby efforts with decision-makers and stakeholders. He has successfully led the sector’s collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiations with the Banking, Insurance & Finance Union (BIFU-Kenya), fostered partnerships with the Judiciary to promote mediation as a dispute resolution mechanism, and coordinated industry-wide litigation. His leadership has also been instrumental in strengthening capacity development within the industry and nurturing a corporate culture that promotes staff motivation and engagement.
In addition to his role as CEO, Raimond serves as a Board Member of the Auctioneers & Licensing Board under the Attorney General’s Office and represents the banking sector on the Mediation Accreditation Committee of the Judiciary. He is also actively engaged in several national task forces and working groups aimed at driving Kenya’s socio-economic development.
A seasoned legal professional, Raimond is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Commissioner for Oaths, and a Notary Public. He holds professional memberships with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM). His academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) degree from the University of Nairobi, a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, and an International Diploma in Human Resource Management from Cambridge International College, UK.

Fidelis Muia / Director of Technical Services
Mr. Muia is the Director of Technical Services and is responsible for coordinating industry initiatives to enhance technology and operations in the banking sector. He has played a vital role in implementing projects that modernised the Automated Clearing House (Cheque Truncation) and the National Payments System. With over 20 years of experience working in the insurance and banking industries, Mr. Muia has a broad knowledge of systems development and implementation.
Christine Onyango / Director of Communication and Public Affairs
Ms. Onyango joined the Association in February 2022 after serving as the Head of Marketing at I&M Bank for ten years. She has 19 years of experience in the banking industry, having worked for a Fortune 500 company, one of the largest banks in the US (Bank of America), Credit Bank Limited, and Gulf African Bank. Christine is a well-known marketing, corporate communication, and business strategy leader. She has a proven history of delivering results through effective marketing campaigns and brand and relationship management. Ms. Onyango holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from Amberton University in Dallas, TX, and an Associate degree in Business Administration and Management from Collin County Community College in Plano, TX.
Kennedy Mutisya / Chief Finance Officer
Mr. Mutisya was appointed Chief Finance Officer in December 2012. With 20 years of experience in the finance industry, he has worked in various roles in East Africa, including project finance, treasury, financial planning and analysis. He has worked in multiple sectors, such as banking, telecommunications, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and insurance. His recent position was the Finance Manager at the Monarch Group of companies. Mr Mutisya earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business Studies from Kenyatta University and is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
Dr. Samuel Tiriongo / Director of Research and Policy
Dr Samuel Tiriongo (PhD) joined the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) team in December 2020. Before joining KBA, he worked as an economist with the Central Bank of Kenya for 13 years. During his tenure, he served as a member of the Secretariat of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) for 11 years. His role was to provide research and analysis to the committee to aid in their decision-making process for monetary policy. Dr. Tiriongo has also conducted various research assignments that have helped shape industry discourse and policymaking. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed research outlets, focusing on market microstructure, economic responses to crises, monetary policy communication, and credit market analyses, among other areas.
Dr. Tiriongo has a PhD in Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam-Tanzania. He was conferred this degree under the Collaborative PhD Programme in Economics for Sub-Saharan Africa of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC). He has been a research fellow of the AERC since 2016 and was awarded in 2017 to participate in the AERC/IMF Visiting Scholars Programme. Dr. Tiriongo has also received professional training from leading organisations, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF), The World Bank, and the Macroeconomic and Financial Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa (MEFMI).
